ARTIVIST AWARDS
Celebrate the great ones we know and support the ones we don’t know yet!
Our annual ARTIVIST AWARDS are a chance for us to honor the young, adult, and elder artist-activists whose bravery promotes justice and well-being in our beloved city; and to enable us to engage 500 New Orleans teenagers as future artist-activists through our publications and workshops in 2025.

About the Awards
Why do we do the Artivist Awards?
-
To honor those who do this work of art and activism with intention and high impact;
-
To develop and amplify our community's standards of brilliance in the field; and
-
To raise awareness and support for the work of Trinity City Arts.
Who can receive an Artivist Award?
-
Non-Exclusive Focus: The award is open to people of all backgrounds, but we maintain a focus on nominating African Americans from New Orleans, because their contributions, so central to New Orleans culture, have been systemically erased for centuries.
What are the criteria for choosing Artivist Awardee?
-
We are looking for individuals who possess:
-
The knowledge and ability to "flip" the harmful narratives of our community.
-
A commitment to excellence in their work.
-
A deep understanding of their role in the community as an agent of change.
-
They have not yet received the acclaim they deserve.
-
-
Verification: We must be able to verify their work through at least two (2) trustworthy public sources of knowledge:
-
(1) at least one source of published online information, articles, interviews, etc., and
-
(2) direct, personal knowledge of one nominator.
-
-
NOTE: Nominees who are not chosen this year go on a short list for consideration again in the following years.
